THE STAR OF CHRISTMAS

Christmas is getting closer and closer, as is the time to choose the right gifts for our loved ones. But don’t worry; there is something that can help us every year.

The Star of Christmas is ready once again to enter our homes and decorate different spaces, already transformed by the trees, wreaths and other elements.

In addition to the name of the plant – historically tied to an old Mexican legend on Christmas Eve and on the desire to give love – the Star of Christmas is undoubtedly the most suitable (and most frequent) gift made during this period. With its red or white leaves, it brightens up our home or garden and requires just some forethought and dedication.

First thing, choose where you want to position it: depending on the season, Stars of Christmas need a different exposition place. During the Christmas season you can safely keep them indoors in a brightly lit room, changing the air often. Be careful though: direct contact with sunlight might be a problem! In summer, it is best to keep them outdoors, always in a shadowed area.

After that, thanks to its Mexican origins, it does not need abundant watering: be careful not to wet the leaves or leave stagnating water, the colours of the plant will warm up even the coldest days.

Only when the plant has lost all its leaves and your floor or the ground is covered in a red layer, you can change the pot. Don’t worry; you can do it right before the beginning of the summer. Up until then, simply enjoy its beautiful vivacious flowers.
