GAFA 2016: THE INTERNATIONAL GARDENING EVENT

    by VECA, September, 09 2016

The gardening world is wide and requires constant innovation, attention and exchange of ideas from the design to the production phase.

At Veca, we are well aware of that, which is why we constantly strive to improve our products to offer the best solutions. This year, we participated in the GAFA international gardening event with our booth of products and our new line Cleo.

    GAFA-2016-8

    GAFA-2016-12

VECA’s pots are practical to use and have functional characteristics. They are above all refined, in order to make your garden and home interiors elegant. The Cleo line is a perfect example of functionality and elegance. The Cleo pots are colourful and refined, and can be transported on wheels in order to easily move heavier loads. Moreover, the wheels can be positioned according to the orientation you want to give your pot.

This event gave us a boost to continue our work with passion and curiosity, always keeping up with the latest innovations.

    GAFA-2016-10

We would like to thank you our many customers for visiting us during this important event, and we leave you with a video that sums up the three GAFA days, so that you can relive thos moments or experience them if you missed it.

WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR PLANTS WHEN THE GARDENER IS ON HOLIDAY

    by VECA, July, 07 2016

If you need to leave the house for some time, do not be scared to leave your pot plants alone; with just a few tricks, they won’t miss you and will survive your absence unscathed.

An automatic irrigation system is the most effective solution to solve the hydration issue; there are currently DIY kits that you can easily set up, or, for short periods, you can use more empirical yet valid systems.

First of all and regardless of the method you choose to supply water, I recommend the use of plastic pots since the material reduces evaporation.  I use classic square anthracite grey pots measuring 50cm and produced by VECA, an Italian company that combines tradition and quality. Group the plants in a single point in shadow if outdoors, and the proximity will ease the operations and create a small ecosystem to favour exchanges, since it was scientifically proven that plants communicate and benefit from being close to their kind.

One of the most effective methods implies taking a large plastic bottle as a water container, cutting a hole on the cap and a few holes on the base with a hot nail and turning the bottle upside down inserting it in the topsoil of the pots.

You can also place a water bucket near the pots and by capillary action you will be able to transfer the liquid to the pots dipping some twisted fabric strips in the bucket as if they were ropes, and placing the other end in the pots.

In order for the topsoil to absorb more water, do not forget mulching the base of the plants with organic or synthetic material you can buy at garden stores such as coconut fibre discs in different sizes according to the pots.

SUMMER GARDEN, EVEN IN A POT

    by VECA, June, 06 2016

Under the morning sunshine of June, the summer garden reveals an explosion of blooms! Roses and lavender are excellent companions, because they like both well-drained soil, even clay, and irrigation infrequent but abundant. If you like the scent and color of this combination, you can also replicate it on the balcony, so they’re always in sight.
